SAME DAY CROWNS

Centennial Lakes Dental Group is excited to introduce single-visit crowns using CEREC.

What is CEREC?

CerecCEREC is a technology for restoring damaged and decayed teeth. This restoration can be completed with a single visit to one of our offices. No more gooey impression material and annoying temporaries, CEREC technology uses computer imagery to design a one-visit crown. The crowns are metal-free and use a high-grade porcelain that mimics the function and look of natural tooth enamel to perfection. Often times it allows us to be more conservative and save non-damaged parts of the tooth.

CerecThe CEREC Process

First, any old filling material, cracks, decay are removed from the tooth. A thin layer of a reflective powder is then applied to your tooth. A special camera is used to take a photo of your tooth. Using Computer Aided Design (CAD), the photo serves as a "map" to design your tooth's restoration. This information is transmitted wirelessly to a machine that will carve your crown out of a solid block of porcelain. Finally, the porcelain restoration is bonded to your tooth using state-of-the-art adhesive dentistry.

Regular Crowns

In some situations a regular crown may be the best option. With a conventional crown the tooth is prepared, an impression is taken and a temporary crown is placed for about three weeks while the permanent crown is being made at the laboratory. These crowns can be created using metal, porcelain, or a combination of both.
